Connection Through Simplicity: Action Board in Action

What does it take to make someone feel seen, valued, and connected? Sometimes it’s as simple as a game of Connect Four.

The Action Board, GOSO’s junior board of young professionals dedicated to advancing our mission, recently reminded us that meaningful engagement doesn’t have to be complicated. They hosted a classic game night at our Community Programs office, stripping away formality and creating space for genuine human connection.

The evening began with icebreakers that got everyone mingling, then moved into spirited rounds of Connect Four, UNO, and Codenames. By the time they reached what became the most intense Jenga game of the night, participants and Action Board members weren’t just competitors anymore, they were teammates and friends.

Here’s what we know: when young professionals invest their time and presence in our community, everyone benefits. Participants gain connections, mentorship, and proof that people believe in them. Volunteers gain perspective, purpose, and relationships that challenge assumptions and broaden understanding.

The Action Board creates moments like these because they understand that supporting legal system involved youth isn’t just about programs, it’s about showing up and being present.

Ready to get involved? Whether you join the Action Board, volunteer at an event, or support our programs, you can be part of creating these transformative moments. Because everyone deserves a community that shows up, and has fun doing it.
