How has the responsibility of being a parent changed the way you approach the world?

I have become more focused and observant. I observe situations and think about the outcome and how it would affect the kids. Everything I do, is for them.

How do you personally benefit from the sense of family at GOSO?

Being at GOSO does feel like a family. Everybody here just wants to see you progress and grow, just like a family would.

Anything you want your kids to learn from you?

Honestly, nothing. I just want them to be themselves.

How has the responsibility of being a parent changed the way you approach the world?

It’s changed me for the better. It definitely helps to keep me out of trouble, because I’m always thinking about her. Being a parent is just so much fun, I love my daughter so much. She brings so much more positivity into my life now.

How do you personally benefit from the sense of family at GOSO?

It’s rare. I actually feel calm and comfortable being here. For once, compared to other places I’ve been, I really enjoy the things I’m learning.

Why is your mother so important to you?

Jon: I love my mom so much because she’s my mom and my dad. She played both sides; she’s very strong. There were two of us, plus an older brother and a younger sister. She was working hard — that’s why I love her.

Josh: For me, I love my mom because she’s a very generous and helpful person. She never gives up on somebody. She always will help somebody if they need help.”

What’s the most valuable piece of advice your mom has given you?

Josh: Real simple. To never give up. And I definitely haven’t.

Who in your life teaches you about parenthood?

When I hear the words parent and mentorship I think of my little brother, Daevoungh. My little brother is training me to be a great parent in the future. When my father is not around, I’m constantly trying to stay on my little brother trying to prepare a great future and career for him by getting him to participate in special activities. It is not easy but it’s fun because I get to share my experiences with him as a brother, but tell him the dos and don’t’s as a parent would.
