Job Title: Career Services Specialist (Coach, Facilitator & Job Developer)

Objective of Role: GOSOWorks, the workforce development and employment preparation program of Getting Out and Staying Out (GOSO), is seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Career Services Specailist to support young adults ages 16–24 impacted by the criminal legal system in achieving meaningful employment and long-term career success.

This role combines coaching, facilitation, and job development to guide participants through career planning, training, placement, retention, and advancement. The position operates within GOSO’s participant-centered framework grounded in accountability, restorative practices, and workplace readiness.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop individualized career plans and provide ongoing coaching focused on accountability, goal progression, and employment readiness.
  • Support participants with resumes, interview preparation, job search strategies, and Candidate Portfolio development.
  • Facilitate engaging career readiness and professional development workshops.
  • Deliver instruction aligned with GOSO’s workplace readiness framework.
  • Create a structured, accountable, and participant-centered learning environment.
  • Build and maintain employer and community partnerships.
  • Develop internship and employment opportunities aligned with participant goals.
  • Manage placement, employer engagement, and retention support.
  • Monitor participant attendance, engagement, and progress.
  • Address performance concerns through structured, restorative, and solution-focused conversations.
  • Maintain accurate participant documentation and outcome tracking.
  • Maintain organized records related to participant progress and placements.
  • Participate in case conferencing and cross-department collaboration.
  • Contribute to program improvement and alignment across service phases.

  • Strong coaching, facilitation, communication, and relationship-building skills with a person-centered and youth-centered approach and a passion for supporting justice-impacted young adults in successfully entering, navigating, and advancing in the workforce.
  • Knowledge of workforce development, employer engagement, and participant support practices.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and multi-tasking abilities in an outcomes-driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Salesforce or similar systems, and emerging tools including AI to support participant engagement and success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in workforce development, youth development, career services, or related fields.
  • Experience working with opportunity youth or justice-impacted individuals preferred.
  • Experience in employer engagement, internship coordination, or job placement strongly preferred.
  • Spanish language skills are a plus.
