Amy Harwood, Director of Communications
Amy Harwood serves as GOSO’s Director of Communications, where she is responsible for overseeing all communications activities within the organization, including media, social media, website content, printed materials, internal communications, and our partners. Through oversight, coordination, and strategy development, she will enhance GOSO’s profile and reputation among the general public, supporters, elected officials, and additional audiences.
After more than 30 years of communications and project management roles across many industries, Amy left the corporate world to complete a Master of Public Administration program to expand her skill set in community organizing and advocacy, policy and human rights. She graduated from Baruch College’s Marxe School of Public and International Affairs in May 2020, where she was awarded the Aaron Zweifach Memorial Award. Since then, she has held a number of roles in the US House of Representatives, New York State government agencies, and recently completed a fellowship at the State University at Albany Rockefeller College’s Center for Women in Government and Civil Society.
In addition to her Masters in Public Administration, Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Michigan, as well as a Masters in Social Work from Boston University. In her spare time, Amy volunteers with a number of organizations that provide advocacy and services to underrepresented and disenfranchised communities across New York State.
