Getting Out and Staying Out (GOSO)

Julia Friedman, LCSW, Senior Director of Community Programs

Julia provides education, employment, and emotional well-being services to participants in the community-based program through conducting both individual and group therapy, running job-readiness workshops, and by creating opportunities outside of GOSO’s doors. Within the community, Julia engages various corporate fields in volunteer opportunities and sponsorships for GOSO participants to be exposed to a variety of career paths and perspectives. Julia received her B.A. from Drew University and her M.S.W. from New York University Silver School of Social Work. Prior to becoming a full-time Career Manager in 2015, she was an intern at GOSO from 2014-2015. Her interest in working with justice-involved persons began when she took a Sociology of Gender class with women serving time at Edna Mahan’s Correction Facility for Women in Clinton, New Jersey. Julia is passionate about the mission of GOSO and the population GOSO serves.
