GOSO Guys Learn Muay Thai at Renzo Gracie Academy

Muay Thai Class at Renzo Gracie Academy

Once a month, our Director of Vocational and Mentoring Services, Shaquala Santiago, organizes our Coaches Club meetup. Coaches Club is a mentoring program where a group of GOSO guys get to do a fun activity with volunteer mentors.

On Saturday, September 9, our guys got to take a beginner Muay Thai class at the Renzo Gracie Academy! One of our Coaches Club mentors, Robert, trains at Renzo Gracie so he was able to bring GOSO in for our very own session. Two other volunteers, Peter and Dion, joined our guys, Daishaun, Maurice and Jonathan.

Muay Thai is a martial art from Thailand, which involves kicks, punches, and elbow and knee strikes. The sport is meant to help those who practice it develop both physically and mentally. There is a lot of emphasis on discipline, focus, and control. The GOSO guys not only came out with a great workout, but also with new skills, confidence, and friends. Check out some photos from the class below:
